And by competing, athletes experience life-changing opportunities to improve physical fitness, learn everyday life skills and connect more closely to their communities. Participate Volunteer Support There’s something for everyone and cost is never a barrier Through the power and joy of sport, we focus on and appreciate all that our athletes can do. When that happens, attention to their disabilities fades away. They become more involved in their communities. And they explore new ways to show who they really are. We serve children and adults from age 8 – 108 living with intellectual disabilities in every hometown across Oregon – and cost is never a barrier as programs are free to the participants. Check out what’s happening in your backyard. Learn About Community Based Sports + School Programs Diverse, Year-Round Sports athletes participate in 14 Olympic-style sports. Seasonal training and serious competition provide a proven pathway to better health, essential life skills and lifelong friendships. And our Unified Champion Schools program integrates students with and without disabilities to promote acceptance and respect through sports. Our Local Programs and athletes are engaged in various sports with safety precautions in place that include masking, distancing, outdoor participation, and limited group size. Activities include 2022 Special Olympics USA Games training , tennis, hiking & running clubs, soccer, bocce, Esports presented by PlayStation, Unified Champion Schools programs, Unified Sports training, and SOOR Active.
